Flea Control in Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham

Pest Control ServiceFlea Control

DR.KILL undertake flea treatments and specialise in flea extermination for domestic and commercial clients. Our fully trained and accredited pest control operatives supply a flea control and flea removal service in the areas of Bromsgrove, Redditch and South Birmingham, with a guarantee of NO KILL NO BILL.

There is nothing more frustrating and unpleasant than a flea infestation. Unlike some pests, fleas cause discomfort and irritation to both pets and people, and they breed at an alarming rate. Fleas can even infest homes where there are no pets present, surviving outside and being carried in to a property on clothing or bags.

It's true to say that a flea infestation can be dealt with using shop bought flea treatments. However, fleas are hardy and can remain dormant for some time, so a professional flea extermination service might be required. This is where DR.KILL can help, with a friendly flea control and removal service at your home or commercial premises.

Flea Identification

  • The cat flea is by far the most common flea in the UK which comes into contact with humans. And, despite its name, it is common on dogs too.
  • Fleas are between 1.5mm and up to 4mm in length. Females reach up to 2.5mm in length, males can be less than 1mm.
  • Reddish-brown in colour, fleas will become redder after feeding.
  • Fleas have a flat, hard body and six legs. Their hind-legs are very long and powerful and are used for jumping.
  • Flea bites most often show up on feet and legs. Small raised red bumps with a reddish halo around each bite. Extremely itchy and may cause discomfort.

Flea Habitat & Breeding

  • Adult fleas are external parasites of warm blooded animals and birds. Most often found on pets and around their bedding, they can also be found on carpets and rugs, upholstered furniture and in gardens (tree bark, around decks, bushes and leaf debris)
  • Four to eight eggs laid after blood meal, 1000 in lifetime. Eggs hatch after 10 days. Larva 1.5mm long and thread-like.
  • Flea development is eight to 150 days depending on temperature but usually two to three weeks.
  • Fleas moult twice, growing to 5mm long and have 13 segments. When full grown the larva spins a cocoon, pupation can last months to years.
